Sunshine Lower Basic School

As the Nursery School is developing and children reach formal education age, they unfortunately need to leave Sunshine and travel miles to the nearest Lower Basic School. Sadly not all children continue their education as there are no means for them to get to another school. Education is compulsory from the age of 7 in The Gambia but this is not particularly monitored or enforced. For these children in the village the development of a Lower Basic School is vitally important and is a priority for the ongoing education and development of the village and the children and families that reside there.

We are currently building 3 classrooms for the Lower Basic School. The school will be used everyday and the 3 classrooms will be shared, with year 1-3 attending school in the morning and year 4-6 attending in the afternoon.
