Some people love their holidays to be relaxing by the pool or on the beach. Others like to go on an adventure and explore. Some people want to stay active and busy, well with our volunteering holidays you can do all of these, making for the best holiday ever. With some amazing hotels, B&B's, apartments and rental compounds, The Gambia has so much to offer. Miles of coastline, wonderful people and sunshine all day long, local and international restaurants and bars are in abundance and there are many sightseeing opportunities to explore.

When volunteering with The Jamwelly Foundation you will be provided with transport from your chosen accommodation to and from the Jamwelly Village, you will receive a guided tour of the area in which you are staying and excursions further afield can also be arranged. There are opportunities to visit local families in their compounds (homes) and share an evening meal with them, immersing yourself in The Gambia culture. 

We welcome volunteers with all kinds of backgrounds, you do not need to have professional qualifications, just a passion for helping others and the ability to pass on your skills and knowledge. Volunteer placements can be for as short or as long as you wish from one week to four weeks, the choice is yours. The following list is by no means exhaustive so please get in touch and lets talk about how you can help.

Could you be a Teaching Assistant helping with classroom duties and supporting the teacher to deliver lessons or perhaps you are a keen gardener who could help maintain or harvest the crops or do some landscaping in the schools outdoor play area. Are you a sporty person who loves to play football or any other sports ? then you could have so much to offer the children. Perhaps you are good at construction and would be able to help with school maintenance or some small scale construction projects or are from a medical profession and able to teach first aid to the teachers and parents. Whatever your skills we would love to hear from you.
